  Praying the Promise

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare—Proverbs 15:1 (MSG)

God, Your word counsels us that using good sense will slow anger down, additionally, it is to Your glory that we overlook an offense (Prov. 19:11). In the heat of anger or when emotions are running high it’s very hard to stop and breathe, or stop and pray, or remember Your counsel about anger and common sense. Thank You for these words that help us in moments when our anger could easily consume us; thank You for the Holy Spirit who steps in and controls the situation for a good outcome.

In today’s world and climate, we don’t have to look far. There’s so much that could spark our anger; all we need do is wake up or begin the day and there is always something to cause feelings of anger to erupt and disrupt our calm or peace.

Since human anger does not produce the righteousness You desire (James 1:20), help me to live by a different code of conduct. Don’t let uncontrolled anger be the undoing of Your good plans in my life or the lives I am meant to impact.

I pray, let my words be a source of peace and understanding rather than stirring up more anger. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent and give me the grace to show love and kindness to those who may not deserve it. I know when I live by Your Word I will experience the overflow of spiritual fruits in my life and circumstances.

I pray, let gentleness, discernment, wisdom, patience, peace, and a strong unmovable commitment to Your ways be my strength and companion today. And when I am tempted to get caught up in emotion may I take a step back and breathe which will give me the room to respond with grace and gentleness instead of anger. Amen

  Praying the Promise

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid —John 14:27 (NIV)

Dear Jesus, peace is a divine atmosphere, not just the absence of war. We pray for peace today. You came out of the grave victorious over death. When God created the world, He transformed chaos and shaped it into something solid; He arranged order and peace. Having and maintaining peace is one of the greatest challenges we face daily because the enemy of peace is always stirring chaos and unrest and he especially uses those who are disconnected from You or reject the peace You offer.

Prince of Peace, I ask You to calm the storms within and around me. Storms are always raging somewhere. Sometimes they are close by and sometimes they are on the other side of the world. Just this week we witnessed another school shooting where many were wounded, some died, and all were traumatized to some degree. Their inner wounds will always be with them; they’ll never forget those images or what happened on an otherwise ordinary school day. Their wounds—inside and outside—were caused by someone who apparently lacked peace in his life.

Thank You for leaving us Your peace, Jesus. We pray, let troubled hearts find the rest and calm You left us. Whenever we come up against emotional turbulence, spiritual unrest, and conflict may we respond in such a way that we do not add to it or make it worse, but instead may our presence contribute to the peace and calm that’s lacking or needed.

Jesus, like the song goes, “let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” As I pray for peace, hope for peace, and long for peace, let peace find a home in my heart and then let the peace I have impact those I come into contact with, beginning in my own home and family.

I pray, guard my heart and mind and fill them with peace and harmony because that’s the first place unrest looks for a place to set up camp. Amen

  Praying the Promise

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future—Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

God, You created me. The Scriptures say I have been created wondrously and fearfully (Ps. 139:14). From the time You knit me together in my mother’s womb You made plans for my life. You have plans for me and so do a lot of other people. I have plans for my life and yes, not surprisingly, so does the devil. However, there is only one set of plans that matter: Yours! The plans You have for me are the only plans that will bring complete satisfaction and fulfillment, happiness, joy, hope, peace of mind and a feeling of real accomplishment.

God, we may not know a lot about what eternal life will be like in heaven; we have to wait until we’re there to know fully. We may not know for certain what You will ask us before we enter in, but one thing we can know is You will not ask us if we made everyone else happy by fulfilling the plans they had for us.

Sometimes we will need to say no to the roles and expectations other people place on us because they do not align with Your plans and purposes for us.

God, help us to know Your plans by spending time in Your word, by considering the gifts and talents You have given us, by recognizing our strengths, and by time spent with You in prayer. Help us to be resolute in our desire to please You more than satisfy others. Thank You for Your promise to prosper me and give me hope and a future. Even today, may I look for ways and opportunities to fulfill Your purpose for my life.  Amen

  Praying the Promise:

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans—Proverbs 16:3.

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us that the way to experience success and accomplish the things You have in mind for us is to commit our plans to You and align our plans with Yours. The Scriptures assure us when we work at all we do with all our heart and as though we are working for the Lord and not for human masters, we will receive a heavenly and spiritual inheritance (Col. 3:23). Thank You for this reminder that even our work is a form of worship and dedication to You.

Lord, I am grateful that Your assistance is a dependable reality in my life. Because You provide Your support, strength, and guidance I am able to achieve my goals and accomplish those things You have in mind for me personally as I journey through this world.

Heavenly Father, I commit all my plans to You—ranging from the smallest to the biggest—I commit all my activities of this day to You no matter how insignificant or menial. May they be done respectfully and always honoring to You. May all I do be under Your guidance and with wisdom. I pray, please work through me so that Your plans for my life will reach fruition, to Your praise and glory.

I commit my plans to You, Lord, and not with my head or lips alone, but in my heart. I am confident You’ll show me what is best to do and that through Your blessing my plans will be established. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen

  Praying the Promise:

Whatever they plot against the Lord he will bring to an end; trouble will not come a second time—Nahum 1:9 (NIV)

God, we embrace this promise from Nahum. Let it resound deeply in our spirit for this modern day and time. We will not be held captive by the false images or things in our imagination that create and breed fear in our inner being and keep us living in stagnancy, but we choose this day to dwell on the truth of Your precious Word. We choose to believe and embrace fully the truth that You are our Divine Protector, our Shield and our Fortress; the One who propels us forward and rescues us from being stuck.

God, we choose the path of confidence and assurance because we know that in the time of trouble You will rescue us and bring us into that promised place of hope and restoration; You will deliver us from tight spots and places where our backs are against the wall and deliver us to wide open spaces where we are free to make sound decisions and choices about our life and future without being under pressure.

Faithful God, You reveal to us whatever the enemy plots and schemes against us in the dark and secret places. Not even the secrets of the enemy which are meant to harm us, will go undetected, but You will shine a light and expose them; they will not bring us harm but instead work for our good and prove Your power and glory.

Heavenly Father, August 2025 is nearly over but Your work of deliverance will never come to a close, and the things You have declared closed and over will not return. We thank You for the deliverances You have blessed us with this month. We thank You for the portals You have closed by Your mighty hand, and we thank and praise You for the doors You have opened on our behalf, even those we have not seen manifested yet.

Even as the month of August closes out we have new strength and are reminded of the power of our redemption through Jesus Christ. We walk out of this month, but we walk into and under the power of fresh blessing, grace, and forgiveness. We are ready to face the days ahead confidently and with renewed assurance and hope. Amen

  Praying the Promise:

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken—Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Dear God, thank You for the many ways You support my earthly life. I’m so grateful that You are not only concerned about my spiritual wellbeing and where I will spend eternity, but You’re also concerned about my day-to-day existence while I’m on earth.

Just knowing I can come to You seeking Your guidance and support and that I can always trust in Your plan for my life; knowing I can be assured whenever I ask for Your strength to carry me through each day and that You will be my constant source of strength, makes all the difference. Knowing you are near and will never leave my side uplifts and gives me peace of mind. Your guidance is invaluable. I’ve never experienced anything except Your compassion toward me, I’ve never felt You were judgmental toward me or that I could not draw near to You.

The fact that I can surrender all my struggles to You and find comfort in Your presence and promise of help is only one of the things I talk to others about when they are going through trials and stormy times in their life.

I don’t know about people who choose to believe in, and worship idols made from wood or stone that can’t do anything for them. Just like it’s written in the Bible such idols have no power to see them or have no ears to hear them, or mouths to respond to them, or heart to have compassion toward them; they are only sticks and stone with no power or capacity to help or support them (Deut. 4:28).

You alone, Lord, are ready to support my life, You alone are the one who provides for my every need. You alone can heal my life, heal my emotional pain, fix my broken heart, help me make wise choices and sound decisions.

God, I can cast ALL of my cares—not just part of them—but all of my cares on You and You will sustain me; you’ll never let me fall through the cracks of this world. Keeping me uplifted is yet another way You sustain and support me on this journey. Amen

 Praying the Promise

The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim in Jerusalem—Nehemiah 2:20

God of heaven and earth there are so many ways we can prosper in this life. Whenever the word “prosperity” is raised especially in Christian circles our thoughts immediately go to our finances and wealth. But there are so many other ways we can prosper.

Beginning with the Old Testament we learn a great deal about the ways You make us prosperous in this life. May we always desire to be prosperous in every way, not only financially. Forgive us for seeking only one kind of prosperity while ignoring all other areas in our prayers and pursuits.

Thank You for the many promises surrounding prosperity. Thank You God for Your promise to prosper our health. Thank You for prosperity of relationships. Thank You for promising to prosper us in our service to You. Thank You for prospering us in our understanding. Thank You for prospering our soul, and yes, Lord, thank You for the blessing You lay upon our finances that cause us to be prosperous also.

What a blessing Lord, to know that under Your design for us whatever we put our hand to, whatever work we undertake is destined to prosper because You bless it beforehand. When Your hand is upon us, our family life will prosper, our relationships will prosper, our mental, emotional, and spiritual health will prosper, our ministries will prosper, our businesses will prosper, our lives will prosper.

Lord, You guided the prophet Nehemiah and his team to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and they prospered (Neh. 2:20). How empowering to learn when we obey You, we will prosper (Deut. 12:28). How inspiring when we learn and experience prosperity because we are at peace with You (Job 22:21). What a joy to realize that when we receive Your wisdom and put it into practice, we will also experience prosperity (Prov. 8:18). Your promise that we will be enriched in every way so that we can always be generous (2 Cor. 9:11).

On this day, Lord, I pray for prosperity in every area of my life; not limited to only one part of my life. I ask You to bless me to prosper in my soul so my entire wellbeing is transformed.

As the Scriptures say, “when the God of heaven makes us prosper, we will rise and there will be building. Amen

 Praying the Promise

So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you—Leviticus 26:9

Gracious and Loving Lord; this verse is for everyone who says there’s no Gospel or grace in the Old Testament! Thank You for the command and the blessing of fruitfulness. Being fruitful is one of the first commands and promises our first parents learned in the Garden. You blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas” (Gen. 1:22).

God, I have the potential to be fruitful, the power and ability to multiply whatever m hand touches and my mind conceives. I am a fruitful being. Even in my old age I am able and supposed to bear fruit just like trees keep on giving sap I am supposed to keep producing, keep on giving and thriving (Psalm 92:14).

When I bear fruit I please You, Lord. Bearing fruit means I am walking in a manner worthy of You and pleasing you in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of my Creator God (Col. 1:10).

Heavenly Father, it is incumbent upon me to recognize my enemy who does not want me to bear fruit. I am a fruitful person, while he, on the other hand is a life-stealer. He viciously plants seeds of doubt in my mind that I cannot bear fruit. He wants me to believe I am destined for emptiness and being barren. He is constantly at work stealing the ideas I have about bearing fruit; always throwing up barriers and contriving mountains to block the path of fruitfulness I am embarking upon under your power and authority.

Lord, You make us exceedingly fruitful. When we are intentional about bearing fruit, everything we touch bursts forth and multiplies. Just as You blessed Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply, may we remember we also live under this promise and blessing. May we set our face and heart of faith to live a fruitful life. May the Kingdom of heaven bulge at the seams because we have been fruitful on earth, winning souls for Jesus and sowing Gospel joy. May our fruitfulness cause our adversaries to weaken (Ps. 105:24) and be without any fruit.

Because You abide in us and we in You, we have a guarantee of being fruitful. We will not be barren. We will not be empty. We will not be without ideas that have the promise of fruitfulness woven through them. We will not walk in the teaching of scarcity, but instead we will awaken and declare it a fruitful day. We will be intentional in our day, and everything we do will be under a mindset of fruitfulness, believing in the law of multiplication that will spill over onto our  spiritual gifts and natural talents, spill over into our finances, the good works we do in Jesus’ name and the service we render towards others. Praise You Father, for making me the bearer of fruit and blessing everything good that I do to multiply. Amen

 Praying the Promise

It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from him—Acts 17:28 (TPT)

Dear God, we live in an age where all kinds of theft take place. Thieves are clever in the way they steal people’s money, material goods, and these days we’re learning that clever thieves can even steal our homes by transferring the title to their name. Sadly, not even our shelter is safe from theft.

Lord, as if we don’t have enough to worry about, it seems, no matter how hard we try, no matter how many steps we take to stay ahead of those who steal, it seems we’re always two steps behind, always being reactive instead of our hoped for proactive.

Thieves can steal from us. They can use clever strategies and approaches to take the things that are most precious to us. Some have even become skilled at stealing other people’s identity. Getting our identity back is stressful, time-consuming and can be expensive. Thank You, God that there are professionals who can help us do this!

Thieves may be able to steal our good name, our good credit, even our social security number, but there is an identity they cannot steal: they cannot steal: our spiritual identity and inheritance, the one that comes from You. They cannot steal the relationship we have with You or the promises You have spoken over us and set in place for our life. Because we have our being in You, because every breath we take and every step we make is rooted in You, no one can steal what You have planned for us.

I thank You, Lord, although theft of earthly possessions and identity can be devastating You can help me rebuild. I thank You even more that the identity that matters more than anything is protected and I never have to worry: I am Your offspring, I have been created in Your image and likeness, my being is established in You and this will never change. Amen

 Praying the Promise

God, all at once, You turned on a floodlight for me! You are the revelation light in my darkness, and in your brightness, I can see the path ahead—Psalm 18:28 (TPT)

God, You have promised to provide guidance and clarity in difficult times. You illuminate our path and dispel darkness. I find comfort in knowing that You are my source of illumination, especially in moments when everything is shadowy and hard to make out and it’s challenging at best to make the right decision.

I come before You today and I claim this beautiful, empowering promise that You will light up my darkness, as my own. I trust in Your unfailing love and Your faithfulness to guide me in both good times and bad. There are days when I feel swallowed up by darkness, as though my light has been extinguished, but Your Word reminds me that I am not swallowed up and there is a light that does not go out: Yours!

Dear God, there is none like You and there is no light like Your Light. You are the Lord our God.

Today I pray for Your guidance and illumination on every situation I face. Where I have been in the dark about [it] I pray for Your light to shine. Where I have been confused about [it] I pray for Your clarity. Where I have been stuck or indecisive I pray for opening and a set mind.

Faithful Lord, I pray You will open the right path before me—shine Your light on the path I’m supposed to take. Without Your guidance it’s hard to know which one is best for me. When You point me in the right direction I can breathe again, my anxiety lifts; I can see the open road and path that stretches ahead out in front of me as clear as day. I can even rejoice ahead of time because I will not be left on my own to find the way. I’m ready, Lord. Amen

 Praying the Promise

I give you the land of Canaan, this is your inheritance; Even though you’re not much to look at, a few straggling strangers.”—I Chronicles16-18-19 (MSG)

God, when You give a blessing You really give big! As Your Word says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).

When You bless us, You go all the way. You don’t hold back. Every people in every generation have been recipients of Your good blessings. Your provision and blessing are consistent and unchanging.

Gracious Father, You don’t bless us because we’re anything special to look at; You are not impressed with our physical beauty nor our high intelligence, neither of these things about humans impress You.

Thank You, God, for the spiritual blessings you have given me in Christ Jesus. I acknowledge that You have chosen me before the foundation of the world and predestined me for adoption to sonship (Eph. 1:5-6). I ask that You open my mind to understand all that You have for me and help me to let go of any preconceived notions.

Even though You had given Your children the great land of Canaan as their spiritual inheritance there were still battles to fight, they still had giants to face. And the same is true for us today. We have a great inheritance from You also, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have battles to fight and giants to face and overcome; but we can do it because You are by our side and have gone before us.

In Jesus’ name I pray for a deeper awareness and appreciation of my inheritance and a renewed commitment to live out my faith. In You, through Christ I am deeply blessed, I am rich, I have a rich inheritance and with Your help I will live as that person who knows You constantly pour out blessings to me and I have a rich inheritance; not based upon my physical appearance or anything else about me, but strictly out of Your generosity, love and commitment to care for me. Amen

 Praying the Promise

This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD. They keep saying to those who despise me, ‘The LORD says: You will have peace.’ And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, ‘No harm will come to you.’ –Jeremiah 23:16-17 (NIV)

Jesus, here’s one problem we have: we all love to receive a special Word from the Lord. How exciting when someone says they have a special word from God for us. We feel so special and blessed.

The problem is, we only want a good Word prophesied over us. Our ears are itching and our hearts burning to hear some Word of blessing and assurance of prosperity. We want someone to tell us—in Your name—that all will go well with us and only good things are in our future. We’re eager to hear a Word where God has said there is increase, health and blessing in our future.

You warn us about this because You know these messages are not [always] what the Father is prophesy over or for our life. God doesn’t always send favorable or comforting words. He doesn’t always say things will go well with us, that our marriage will be saved, that our children will stop hanging around with the wrong crowd, or that a loved one will come out of the streets. God doesn’t always prophesy that that promotion we deserve will be ours, that our health situation is going to come out okay or that our finances will have a boost. Sometimes God’s prophetic message is a hard one. Sometimes He warn us that our waywardness will lead to upsetting consequences. Sometimes we learn we’ll suffer a while longer because it’s the Lord’s plan for us.

Lord, bring us back in line when we have gone astray. Correct our theologies when they don’t line up with the truth in Your Word. Don’t let us seek or hang onto those messages—though they bring us comfort and tickle our ears—but will eventually lead us in the wrong direction.

Jesus, we praise You for our great salvation. Thank You for Your Word; thank You for always be truthful to us. It’s not always comfortable—but it will keep us on track where we need to be. Protect us from false prophets and those who love to speak on Your behalf but have not heard a true Word from the Father. May we treasure truth over feel-good messages. Keep us covered and guide us always. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Praying the Promise

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost!—Isaiah 55:1

Heavenly Father, while we live on earth, we sometimes need to find a new home to live in. We have learned to research potential homes and the communities they are located in. If we have children, we look for the best schools. Because it’s important to have ancillary services, we research the kinds of stores and shopping places nearby. What kinds of restaurants will be near our new home. What amenities are offered in the community and how can we get the best for our dollars. We know the more amenities that are offered within the community, it's likely we will pay more. There will be a cost to live in that home, that neighborhood, that community.

What You offer here is beyond our wildest imagination.

Lord, we can hardly wrap our brains around this invitation.

Imagine, living in the best community where there is no crime and everyone loves and supports one another; no grouchy or mean-spirited neighbors! Being able to eat and pay nothing for the finest foods is a great blessing we can only imagine now. Having all the amenities we can ever imagine just because we have believed in Jesus while we live on earth brings a smile to our face and joy to our heart.

Thank you for this invitation, Father. Thank You for the promise of spiritual blessings and nourishment that have no strings attached and no cost. That means, even the poorest impoverished person on earth can know they will have all the riches of heaven at their disposal once they arrive. Everything in heaven is free for those who accept this promise and invitation while living on earth.

We know we cannot live perfectly so help us live lives of faith so we can receive all Your invitation names. May our faith in Jesus never waver but remain strong to the very end. When we have wandered and lost ourselves on the way, return us to Your heart, Lord. Rebuke our waywardness, receive our repentance, and revive our wayward souls with the healing and the blessing of Your love.

We cannot work for heaven, but we can accept Your invitation today and keep our hand in Jesus’ hand no matter what happens on earth. That will be enough to get us home where there will be the best of everything and everything is free. Amen

Praying the Promise

Therefor I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship—Romans 12:1

Jesus Lord, I come before you today, deeply reflecting on this Word. I ask You, by the mercies of God, that I present my body as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to You, which is my reasonable service. Jesus, help me to live a life that reflects God’s love and grace, and to serve others with joy and purpose.

So often, we can look at what Paul writes here as something that is austere: strict in manner, attitude or appearance. Rigid and puritanical. As though You are asking us to give up all comforts or enjoyable things. We believe our “spiritual act of worship” must be unpleasant and painful. Some take up near starvation paths, eating only enough to stay alive. Some define this kind of “God-pleasing” worship as being something that means foregoing any kinds of financial benefits or profitable. We pray that You will teach us and help us to understand.

When we offer our bodies as living sacrifices, so that our life is holy and pleasing to You, we are committing to a life of prayer, study of Your word, devotion and worship.as our spiritual act of worships we can commit to serving others, utilizing the gifts and talents You have knit into us. using our natural talents and spirit-given gifts never seem like work because they are joyful to us. Help us to put our gifts and talents to use mor and more, Lord.

You already know God, that anything too harsh or strenuous or bitter will not hold up for very long, not for extended periods of time. You have not called us to tortuous living or service that only angels could accomplish, but to a life of serving You which is also through things we are well-suited for and release oxytocin which is healing for our bodies and mind.

Lord, I’m so grateful for your mercies. Take my life and let it be dedicated to You. I pray my life is a reflection of Your love and mercy and grace and that my service to You—which is from the depth of my heart—is acceptable to You. I realize—thankfully—that I don’t have to be miserable in my work or service in order to please You and that brings joy to my heart!

In this attitude I am no longer conformed to the way the world and those who have no understanding look at this Word, but I know I can serve You and my service will be acceptable even when I’m happy and feeling joyful in my service. I ask You to bless my service, bless my spiritual act of worship that it may be fruitful and bless others as well. Amen

But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, ad not faint—Isaiah 40:31

Heavenly Father, You created us to be resilient. We get knocked down in this life, we get trampled on sometimes, but we have it in us to get up. Wise Solomon wrote, “even a righteous person falls seven times, but he (she) will rise again (Prov. 24:16). Because we are Yours and Your hand holds us firmly, we are like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

God, It doesn’t matter how many times we fall or are knocked down, we will rise again. We can rise to face the challenges and difficulties of this life. Thank You for every place in the Scriptures that remind us of this truth. When we highlight them, study them, meditate on them, consume them like they are a nourishing meal for our soul, when we make them our own, we can stay encouraged through our trials and storms, through the darkest moments of our life.

Those who trust in You, Lord, will renew their strength. They’ll get up like they are rising up on eagle’s wings. There is renewal for the child of God. Through your promises there is comfort and restoration.

I’m encouraged God, to remember the words of Saint Peter who was resilient. Peter wrote encouraging words for weary souls, to remind us of our resilience in the Lord. Peter said, “But the God of all grace, who has called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after we have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you” (I Peter 5:10). Peter’s counsel is a life preserver for those who are downtrodden. I am strong in my soul, bold in faith and resilient. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

Praying the Promise

On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul—Psalm 138:3 (ESV)

Lord, help me trust in You completely. Help me lean on Your strength and find comfort in Your love. I thank You for being my rock and my refuge. In the day I called to You, You answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul. Your promises are not empty promises that never manifest, they are solid, sure, certain and never fail.

Like David, my heart is grateful Lord. I’m grateful for Your constant presence. I’m grateful for Your concern about my life and circumstances. I’m grateful that You always respond when I call to You. I can honestly testify and witness to others who may not know You like I do, that amazing things happen when we call on You. From the small to the big and the other way around. I can testify that, the times I’ve needed strength You gave it to me; the times I’ve been afraid to move from my comfort zone or take a needed step in order to experience a breakthrough or change that was needed, You blessed me with boldness of soul.

Lord, You have always been here for me, even in my darkest moments. I thank You for the strength You pour into me. I thank You for the boldness You give me—that surprises even me—and helps me take the steps needed or show up for the hard things instead of hiding away and trying to avoid the things I need to face.

I praise You, Lord and today I claim what David wrote as a promise that also applies to me personally. Whenever I’m in a tight spot, feeling stuck, or feeling weak and unable to go forward in life I’ll be able to remember Your lovingkindness toward me and all I need to do is call on You and You will supply me with boldness and strength of soul. You never fail me, Lord. Amen

Praying the Promise

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—Ephesians 2:4-5

Gracious and Loving God, there are so many things we can be rich in. we can be rich in houses and land. We can be rich in friendships. We can be rich in money, earthly wealth. We can be rich in all kinds of things but no richness in this life or world will come anywhere near the richness You have.

Thank You for the transformative power of grace. You are rich in love, rich in mercy. Your mercy and love are the cornerstone of the Christian faith and keep us connected to You in the very best way. Because You are rich in mercy and great in love we are made rich in all the ways that matter.

Because of the richness of Your love we are blessed. There is no beginning or end. There is never a time we are not being loved-on by You; no time we don’t have some kind of spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, financial or material blessing from You.

Regardless of our shortcomings and imperfections Your great love for us is unwavering and unchanging. Your love is so powerful and can save us from our sins and bring us into a relationship with You. Thank You God for loving me even in my most horrible version; I’m eternally grateful. Amen

Praying the Promise

After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward”—Genesis 15:1

Gracious God, what a strengthening and encouraging word for the heart! I needed to hear that today, Lord! “Fear not I am your shield; your reward shall be very great!”

How trying and exhausting this life can be at times. With so much going on, so many forces, including the presence of the evil one, always trying to undermine the plans You’ve put in place. This word is a good one. Just being reminded how You’ll stand behind me refreshes my soul.

You are truly my shield, God. Not the shield that is small and circular that covers only a portion of the body, but the one soldiers took into battle that covered them from head to toe. I rejoice in Your promise and relax in this powerful word. It gives me an opportunity to breathe.  Thank You for being my very great reward, my all-encompassing shield.

Heavenly Father this promise highlights Your provision and blessing, not just materially but spiritually. It foreshadows the covenant promises of descendants and land and ultimately points to the spiritual inheritance found in Christ (Gal. 3:29). It suggests protection and defense, reinforcing the idea of divine security.

Lord, the natural human response, especially after battles—whether metaphorical or literal—is to be fearful; but You told Abram and now remind us that we are not to be afraid. You cover us from behind, You go before us; You have me lifted us and cover our head; there’s no where we can go that Your covering is not with us. We live under a divine blessing no one can take remove from us. Amen

Praying the Promise

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom —Psalm 145:1-3,21(NIV)

Gracious and loving God, I pray enlarge my heart so I can praise You more and more; so I can praise You every day like David learned to do.

I want to praise You despite adversity. When I praise You from my heart I’ll enjoy a more positive and hopeful attitude. You are worthy of all my praise. I can sing and shout with praise because even when life is hard and filled with challenges; even when times are dark and filled with sorrow, You are always making a path to light and better times. I can’t think of one time in my life You have not been with me. There has not been one incident in my life where You have not been at work in this world or personal circumstances.

Heavenly Father, fill me with an attitude of gratitude because that helps me praise You during chaos and trauma. May I always keep in mind You are the author and finisher of every good thing.

I can command my soul to praise You before things turn around in my life because I know it’s only a matter of time before my situation will change under Your hand. Loving God, You are always working behind the scenes and I can entrust my life to You. I can stand firm in Your promises, trusting in Your strength and protection.

When I praise You continually Lord, it reminds me I’m not alone, I’m not forgotten, I’m not always going to be in the place I’m in presently.  Thank You for being my God of hope, my God of goodness, my God who is consistent, constant and unwavering. Your promises remain the same today and tomorrow and forever. Even when circumstances get tough I can keep my eyes on You because You remain steadfast.

Because You are steadfast, I can be steadfast in praise, in faith, and in Your Word.

Praying the Promise

Keep up your reputation, God; forgive my bad life; it’s been a very bad life—Psalm 25:11 (The Message)

God, King David was having a moment of self-awareness, a moment he was facing the truth about himself. He put his trust in You and knew You would teach him Your ways so he could not only be a better person but someone who wanted to please You. David wanted a clean slate and like us, he especially wanted to know You would not hold the sins of his youth against him.

Gracious God, Your Word is freeing and its truth from beginning to end. Your Word says when we face the truth, that truth will set us free” (John 8:32). Whenever I remember my past life, I know the truth, and like David, my truth and my past isn’t pretty. Like St. Paul says, we have all had a time or times in our life where we have not been good people, godly people, upstanding people, or Christlike in our actions or attitude. And at times the things we have done have been intentional and harmful to ourselves and others. All of us have been sinful and fallen short of Your glory (Romans 3:23).

When I look at my past, at the things I have done, I feel so unworthy of Your forgiveness and have a hard time forgiving myself. I’m so grateful for Your Word that assures me I am forgiven. I’m grateful that You have taken pity on me! I’m grateful for the opportunities You’ve given me to have a clean slate; not just once or twice, but continually; even as recent as this morning (afternoon, evening).

Plant Your word in my heart O Lord. Help me to forgive myself so guilt and shame don’t eat away at my heart, destroy my confidence, my relationships with others and with You. Help me remember You have removed my sins from me as far as the East is from the west (Ps. 103:12) and whenever I bring them up to You, You respond, “what sin!”

Thank You, God, for Your mercy! Take my sins, forgive them, and make my heart and intentions pure. Amen

Praying the Promise

My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle. They end without hope—Job 7:6 (NLT)

Gracious God, it’s clear Job was in a bad way emotionally, spiritually, and in attitude. He never cursed You as his wife told him, but he was completely hopeless and drained. He had lost so much and within a short period of time. Who could blame him his downturned and grieving spirit! Thank You for letting us learn that down the road You blessed him twofold and Job was going to be able to resume life and prosper (Job 42:10). It may have looked differently from before, but it could still be a good, fruitful, and blessed life. Thank You, God for opportunities to rebuild even after significant and hurtful loss!

God, we’ll all have losses in this life. Loss is inevitable. We’ll all have our seasons of grief and sorrow. We pray, after we have experienced loss in life—human or otherwise—after everything that’s important to us has been stripped away, help us to keep going, help us to keep pressing forward and keep us from despair and losing all hope in future happiness, in eternity, and in Your restorative powers.

Even though it may feel like a dark cloud is surrounding us and we can’t see the light for the darkness, even though we doubt future happiness or the possibility of rebuilding, help us remember in our heart of hearts that You are always at work recreating and renewing.

Loss makes us face our vulnerability and at times our mortality. Like Job we face the truth that life is but a breath (7:7) and this isn’t all bad to face. It’s our reality that can keep us spiritually grounded and looking heavenward, it can keep us from building up treasures on earth and losing a right perspective. It can keep us from worshiping the wrong things.

Lord, by Your strength, mercy, grace and help we can keep going after loss and in time, life can be even better than imagined or thought. Amen

Praying the Promise, August 5, 2025

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength –Isaiah 40:29

Lord, thank You for the gifts of nature that accompany August. Thank You for the continued warmth, the wonder and August’s connection to trees, plants and flowers. Thank You that August is a wonderful time for star-gazers and travelers—those who want to explore nature by hiking, taking a long drive to enjoy scenery, or even more elaborate activities like venturing out on the water or taking a cruise to exotic and beautiful places.

As a continuation of the summer months, August reminds us, being in-between is also delightful. Like the liminal times of life where we’re not at the beginning and not at the end of the year but somewhere in-between and there are many good and beautiful things to enjoy. Lord, may we be reminded each day how You sustain us and provide for us and cover and care for us, and August is no exception even if life has been chaotic or caused us to suffer and anguish in our soul.

Gracious God, what others see as mundane or monotonous we can appreciate the absence of unpredictability and the presence calm. As we count the days of August and count down the months remaining on the calendar for 2025 may we remember to also count our blessings; count the ways You are with us day and night, all through the year(s) of our life. May we remember to cherish the things that matter most in this life and on our journey.

God, what some view as fading You continue to pour out life, water, nourish and revive not only human life but the earth. May we rejoice and embrace the fresh chapters that open before us, even late in the year and late in life. May we never tire of stepping into new experiences. May we bless You as we live out our lives as wise and worshipful people. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Praying the Promise, August 5, 2025

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours—Mark 11:24 ESV

Lord, I pray that every project and task I undertake this month will end successfully regardless of its size or importance. I ask You to help me be productive and use each day to its fullest so I can advance and increase.

Wherever there has been blocking and interference by the forces of evil to keep me from reaching my goals or experiencing Your plans for my life, let there be opening; just like when You parted the Red Sea to let Your people cross safely.

I pray, Lord, where I have struggled in the past or had difficulty understanding You will make me a clear thinker so I can understand the deep things that have puzzled me. With clarity all confusion and fogginess will evaporate like the cloud that lifts in the morning sun.

I pray You will silence the voices of accusation and contain those who have opposed me as I pressed to do the things You have called me to do. I pray that every delay will take a turn and the time I lost in the past will be made up for and all things will happen or come together right on time.

I pray for breakthroughs in every area that is needed. I pray for a financial breakthrough because without the needed finances I can’t move forward. I pray for emotional healing that has kept me bound up in the past. I pray that every area of brokenness will be healed. Jesus, You are a Healer and everything You touch is restored and bountiful.

I pray that holy joy that goes deeper than circumstances will replace sorrow and misery and sadness. I am reminded how You are the God of transformation and can touch us in the deepest places just as You knitted us together in our mother’s womb. I know praise is being sown into my soul even while sadness and trial take place all around me.

Lord, You know the long-standing issues I have had to face and circled back around to in my life. You know the issues and problems that have refused to budge no matter what I did or what I applied. You know that even after fasting, prayer, anointing, and counsel, I have not had the desired results or outcomes I’ve hoped and longed for. As I give all my life’s deepest troubles to You I know this will be changed because You can break every chain and overcome every obstacle. You are my God and in You I put my trust; I will continue steadfastly in prayer and being watchful in it with thanksgiving in my heart (Col. 4:2). In Jesus’ name. Amen

Praying the Promise:

This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us—I John 5:14 (NIV)

Lord, as I start out this month of August, I do so prayerfully. Even as this month is fresh, may I keep in mind that prayer is more than routine; more than a task I check off my daily “to-do” list; more than something I do without thought; but it’s my connection with You and a powerful spiritual weapon I have for gaining spiritual victory.

I know through prayer You will change my life and circumstances. I look forward to being able to pray to You every day, about everything big and small and leaving my problems at Your throne even after I get off my knees and go about my day. Help me to pray in faith and confidently.

Lord, when I feel weak or overwhelmed this month, I pray that You will strengthen me. I’m sure that over the next thirty-one days, something will come up that feels overwhelming or problematic, but may I always be reminded of Your faithfulness and stop and ask for direction and guidance.

I know You have a plan for my life and already know which way I should go even when it’s cloudy and unclear  to me. Help me make the best decisions that lead to positive and fruitful outcomes for myself and those I am responsible for.

When I pray to You regularly God, I don’t make decisions out of fear or panic or feeling pressured, but I have a sense of calm and peace. I’ve learned that feeling pressured or fearful is not the time or position I make the best decisions that lead to the best outcomes.

Even though troubles come where it’s easy to feel rushed to make a decision or choose a path, help me to trust in Your timing and to remain patient

Keep me from distractions, Lord and help me to stay focused on the things You have given me to. As I make notations in my prayer journal may I remember that August is already covered with Your grace and You already have my daily needs stretched out in front of You. I know nothing will catch You off guard or cause You to feel defeated or powerless concerning my life or circumstances. Amen

Praying the Promise:

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God—Isaiah 41:10

Heavenly Father, thank you for this new month. Each new month of the year holds a great promise and opens up new possibilities and blessings I have not experienced nor seen before over my lifetime.

I’m filled with gratitude to see this new month of August. Many did not make it this far and many have gone to their eternal resting places so I’m especially grateful to be living and able to accomplish those things You have planned for me and my life.

I pray that I can grow in the areas of my life where I have experienced stagnancy and been unproductive or feeling stuck. I ask for renewal in my relationships, health, finances, and work. I pray to grow as a person and that my attitude can reflect the blessings You have provided for me in life.

Help me navigate August 2025 as a wise and discerning person. Help me embrace the changes that will come over these 31 days and help me to trust You with my whole heart and being. Grant that I may have a spirit of discernment and have a constant awareness of Your presence and how You are at work in my life and the world around me.

I know challenges will come as they always do and this August will be no exception. But I also know just as in the years and months before You are with me and will help me through each one. I pray to honor You in all that I do and to be the kind of faith-filled person that others see Christ in me and working through me to be a blessing. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
